Adaptive Radiation in "invasive plants" explained by epigenetics

Adaptive Radiation is defined as, "the diversification of a group of organisms into forms filling different ecological niches."
The term originated in the early 1900's. Darwin's Finches was the most popular use of the term as the Galapagos islands fit the concept of "ecological niches".
It's been an area of difficulty for NeoDarwinism due to the speed of it's occurrence as Darwn called for slow decent with modification.  As well as the paucity of genetic variance in the subjects studied. Recall Neodarwinism requires genetic mutations and natural selection ergo a different genotype.
These authors decided to take a different track to see if Lamarckian epigenetics could explain this phenomena in invasive species of plants. Recall epigenetics works to control the genes without changing the DNA sequence.
They begin:
"As successful invasive species sometimes are suspected to rapidly adjust to their new environments in spite of very low genetic diversity, we are obliged to re-evaluate genomic-level processes that translate into phenotypic diversity."
Invasive plants can rapidly adjust to their environment with little change to their genes. NeoDarwinism (ND) requires new gene mutations for natural selection to work on thus the paradox. They recognized an "obligation" to look at other mechanisms (epigenetics) as it doesn't change the genotype ie "low genetic diversity".
"We review work that supports the idea that trait variation, within and among invasive populations, can be created through epigenetic or other non-genetic processes,"
In essence they are putting ND aside as it doesn't explain these changes to consider Lamarkian Epigenetics that makes no changes to the DNA sequence. Included in this is that pesky "Junk DNA" which epigenetics controls.
"These mechanisms can contribute to transgressive phenotypes, including hybrid vigour and novel traits, and may thus help to understand the huge successes of some plant invaders, especially those that are genetically impoverished."
They suggest epigenetics can not only "play" the genes but might guide the arrangement thereof without changing the DNA sequence.
Many other species are being investigated as an explanation to "adaptive radiation". 5 years ago a researcher explained Darwins Finches with epigenetics. As well ciclids, the greatest example today with over 2,500 species, has been explained by epigenetics.
It is evident that this 1900's term will be replaced by epigenetic radiation or some similar term.
