DNA are the Plans but Epigenetics reads them in different ways

Here is an analogy that might help you understand how epigenetic machinery can act outside of genes. Imagine that you have plans that contains all the instructions for building a house. These plans are like the DNA sequence, and the epigenetic machinery is like the construction crew that builds the house. The construction crew can follow the instructions in the plans to build a house, but they can also make changes to the instructions. For example, they might decide to add an extra room or change the color of the paint. These changes to the instructions will affect the final product, even though the underlying plans have not changed.
